A County That Works for Working People

Mitchell County should be a place where the people who keep it running can afford to stay and build a future.I’m running because county government should pay attention to whether people can afford to stay here and whether the services we depend on are being protected. People should be brought into major decisions early enough for their input to matter.

Protecting Public Services

Our public schools, healthcare close to home, and EMS are part of what makes it possible to live here. Helene also showed us how much disaster planning matters.These should be real priorities when the county writes its budget. I will ask questions before the county commits public money or signs us onto something long-term.

Why I'm Running

I was born at Spruce Pine Hospital in 1991. My grandpa worked in the mines here for fifty years and built the house on Altapass where I live today. That house has always been a place of stability in my life.Today I work second shift in Environmental Services for that same hospital, now Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. I know what it looks like when people work hard and still struggle to get ahead. I’ve lived it.I’m running as a Democrat because I believe county government should stand up for the people who keep this community going. I want county government to plan ahead and tell people the truth. The public should be involved before major decisions are final.

What I’ll Fight For

As commissioner, I will:

  • Make affordability part of every discussion about housing, taxes, jobs, or development.

  • Protect our public schools, healthcare close to home, EMS, and disaster readiness.

  • Explain my votes and bring the public in before major county decisions are made.

  • Do not renew Mitchell County’s current Flock relationship. Public safety matters, but so does public trust. Any future county ALPR program should require a public vote.

  • Oppose large data centers in Mitchell County. Our land, water, power supply, and roads should serve the people who live here.
